Laurie and Peter have been performing together since 1994.They met while both were working in the DC area as solo artists. They began sitting in at each other’s shows, started dating, got married, made a CD, won a WAMMIE, played a couple of hundred shows a year, traveled the world, had a couple of kids, and became a fixture on the Fredericksburg acoustic music scene.

Laurie and Peter both play guitar, and sing. They also have mandolin, harmonica, and string bass in their musical arsenal.

Laurie started accompanying her voice with the guitar at eleven years old, drawn to the sounds of Joan Baez, Judy Collins, and Joni Mitchell. Her mesmerizing, evocative vocal style reflects the tradition of these great vocalists. World Folk Music Assn's Dick Cerri asserts, "It's easy to fall in love when you hear her sing."

Peter discovered the guitar at eighteen, and never looked back, becoming immersed in all styles from folk to rock to Celtic to ragtime to classical to jazz to his own original songs. His instrumental prowess earned him a spot on the guitar workshop at prestigious Philadelphia Folk Festival.

They are extremely versatile stylistically, with a repertoire that covers Americana, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock, Jazz, Celtic, as well as a large body of award-winning original songs.

They have recorded two CD’s, Tocoi Light, and Something Good. They were nominated for nine WAMMIES, and Tocoi Light was voted Best Debut Album of the Year.

Laurie was voted Best Singer in Fredericksburg in the annual Front Porch readers poll, and the duo was nominated for the Virginia Governor’s Award for Artistic Excellence.

Peter’s songs have taken first place prizes in the Mid Atlantic Songwriting Competition and were finalists in the Kerrville national song contest. He is also a respected guitar instructor who has authored five instructional methods on guitar and ukulele.

They have played festivals and venues up and down the East Coast including the Birchmere, The Kennedy Center, The Philadelphia Folk Festial, The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, The Summer Olympics, Musicfest, plus countless bars and parties, and have shared the stage with Dar Williams, Arlo Guthrie, John Gorka, Tori Amos, Chris Smither, and Janis Ian.

While Laurie and Peter are fully functional as a duo, they perform regularly as a trio with Henry Hubbard (Bass, Vocals, an Mandolin), or a quartet, with percussionist, Kevin Powell.

More than two decades of playing together have not diminished their love and dedication to their art. Every show is like the first show. And, it never gets old.

Laurie and Peter live right around the corner with their two daughters, Adrian and Rosalie, and their dog Toadie.
